Thriving in Thailand
In celebration of Black History Month on February of 2019, AsiAfrica Foundation and @Ebony Expats held a community town hall discussion focusing on how to have a positive and fruitful experience while living in Thailand. *The event was kindly sponsored and co-hosted by Check Inn 99.
Through facilitation, the open dialogue shared and informed more about the Thai culture, laws and social norms and had a better understanding of the perceptions versus the realities of being an expat in Thailand.
The panel discussion, moderated by Bessie D. Smith, opened up the dialogue about Thriving in Thailand from the following perspectives:
Culture and Cultural Diversity
Law and Compliance
Doing business in Thailand
Creating and cultivating the community
How to work and do business with Thai people
Joining communities & giving back to society
Dr. Roland Amoussou President & Co-Founder of AsiAfrica Foundation & Senior Partner at Vovan Bangkok
Tori Rogers, Founder of Ebony Expats
Mr. Choophong Maisuk (Tony), Senior Associate at Vovan Bangkok
Yan Marchal, Founder of Sanuk Games (Thai Company)
Dana Day, Dean of Student Services at a local international school in Bangkok

The event was well received and had a great impact. It was an opportunity to be a part of shaping the dialogue regarding the experience of living, working, or doing business in Thailand successfully.
Based on popular demand, more of similar events will be organized to share information, knowledge, insights, and provide guidance to living and thriving in Thailand especially for people belonging to the African diaspora.
